- The Department of Posts invited student entries for its national level letter writing competition on the theme, Baapuji Neenu Namage Spurthi (Dear Baapu, You Inspire Me). On August 31, 2017, Kannada Association encouraged students take part in the competition and students actively participated in inland letter and envelope categories. Ms. Vasudha, II B Sc won first prize in South Kanara Zonal level category.
- Sri Ramchandra Mission, a non-profit educational and spiritual service organization, conducted a national level essay competition on the theme The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance; it is the illusion of knowledge. Kannada Association students participated in the competition on August 30, 2017 and wrote essays in Hindi on the topic.
- Sri Sharada Women’s college, Sullia conducted a competition on critical reading of Poetic Works of Gopalakrishna Adiga, the pioneer of Navya literature in Kannada on September 23, 2017. Mr. Abhishek III B Com student won third prize in the competition.
- Gokarnanatheshwara College, Mangalore conducted a competition on the occasion of The Narayana Guru Jayanthi on September 5, 2017. Three students of the Kannada Association took part in this and Mr. Harshith won third prize in the competition.
