The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Canara College, Mangalore, conducted a two days faculty development programme on the 12th & 13th of June 2013 in association with the Manipal Centre for Professional and Personal Development (MCPD), Manipal.
The Inaugural function was presided by the President of Canara High School Association Sri S.S. Kamath. He said that it is necessary for the teachers to light a fire in the minds of the students. Prof. M.Satish Bhat, Principal of the college spoke on the role of teachers as facilitators, guides and companions and said that the teachers should make use of such programmes to meet the challenges of the society.
Dr. K.V. Malini, Student Welfare Officer welcomed the gathering. Mrs Seema Prabhu,Secretary of I.Q.A.C. compered. Mrs Usha Nayak rendered the prayer. Mr. Manohar Shetty, Student Welfare Officer proposed the vote of thanks.
The Resource persons were Dr. Sudhakar Nayak and Dr. Ciraj A.M . The workshop was conducted in 3 sessions. The first session dealt with the real balancing of the multiple roles effectively. The second session dealt with how to make lecturing effective and how to bring about active learning in our class rooms.
The 3rd session dealt with the need for development of right attitude and how to change effectively the attitude and behavior of our students through “Cakshumati Vidya”. He also spoke on creating awareness and creating a silence within our selves to understand the world better.
The workshop concluded with a feedback by Mr. Samarth Shenoy and Vote of thanks by the Principal of the college Prof. M.Satish Bhat.
