Final year B.Com G students were taken for a one day industrial visit in and around Mangaluru on 24 March 2018 under the guidance of Mr. Ignatius Navil Noronha, HOD of Commerce. The main intention behind this visit was to accustom students to the various industrial practices and workings of the corporate world.
Achal Industries, Baikampady: The students witnessed the cashew nut processing unit and were briefed on drying, pealing, gradation and packaging of the cashew nuts. For the benefit of the students the accompanying official gave the detailed explanations of the various processing unit. The official answered all the queries of the students as they were all curious to know the complete production and management cycle of the cashews.
Das Aluminiums: Another factory visited by the students was Das Aluminums, Baikampady, Mangaluru , a manufacturer of aluminium kitchen Utensils. The students were explained about the preparation of different kitchen utensils by using aluminium sheets.
Ramky Energy and Environment Ltd., Mulky: Mr. Supreeth Kumar,a dealer in biomedical waste management services began with, a talk about safety policy and procedures of biomedical wastages and the categories of the colored bags which are often used to segregate the medical wastages. The Students were insisted to wear the medical nose mask provided by the company before entering the factory. He then explained the students about the burning of the biomedical waste and how it helps to prevent environmental hazards.
Arya Building Solutions, Padubidri: A manufacturer of new generation precast blocks for long lasting construction in a state of art plant at Padubidri. The proprietor Mr. Abhijit Hegde explained the students about the basic processes of mixing, molding, curing and cubing the blocks. Students were taken to various divisions to experience the processes involved in the manufacturing of blocks. The students were exposed to computerized designed methods of procuring raw materials, mixer-machine used, the loading and unloading procedure, storing, quality testing etc. He also interacted with the students and clarified their queries. The students were then taken to the material testing laboratory and were given a demonstration of equipments used for material testing. The academic counselor Mrs. Ashalatha and Ms. Raksha R. Acharya along with 60 students visited all the four industries
