The three-day Educational Tour to Ooty Botanical Garden from August 12, 2018 to August 14, 2018 was organized by the Department of Botany. A total of 28 students from II BZC & 4 faculty members visited various important botanical places in Ooty. Students studied local plants in their natural habitat along with field explanations. The places visited were as follows: Ooty Botanical Garden, Rose Garden, Mudumalai National Park, Dodabetta Tea estate and factory, Pine Forest.
The Head of the Department, Ms. Madhushree, explained the characteristics of many flowering plants and the morphological features of different groups of plants, such as Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms, and higher Angiospermic plants. This was a very informative and useful tour for the students.
