Dr. Rameela Shekhar facilitating the session said – the psychosomatic and psychological disorders are on the increase, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction being experienced by the people. The reasons for the increased level of stress are the changing physical and socio-cultural environment and life style of the people. Life has become more demanding, complicated and mechanical and ever increasing needs and aspirations, high competition, pressures of meeting deadlines, uncertainly of future, weak social system have made the life of individuals stressful in modern context.
The programme also had hand-on group exercises and activities relates to identifying the causes of stress, its effects, strategies to manage stress, etc…
Principal Dr. K. V. Malini in her presidential address remarked – “Stress is an indispensable part of daily living and each individual responds to stress differently. Thus, there is no “one size fits all” solution to managing stress. Stress management techniques can teach an individual healthier ways to cope with stress, help reduce its harmful effects, and present stress from spiraling out of control in the future. This will therefore, enable us to maintain life’s quality and vitality.”
