National Service Scheme and Youth Red Cross Units of our college, in association with Rotary Club, Mangalore and Indian Red Cross Society organized a Blood Donation Camp on college campus on July 20, 2019. The formal function was inaugurated by Mr. Prabhakar Sharma, Former Additional DC of Dakshina Kannada and Hon. Secretary Indian Red Cross Society. In his address, he highlighted the need for donating blood and also advised students to inculcate good food habits to be healthy and stay fit.
Rtn. Jathin Attavar, President , Rotary Club, Mangalore was the chief guest of the programme. In his speech he thanked the NSS and YRC Units of the college in joining hands with Rotary Club in this Camp.
Prof. Dejamma A, Dean, Department of Commerce presided over the function. In her presidential remarks she congratulated the conveners for taking up such a noble initiative to serve the mankind.
Rtn. Adithya Pai, Rtn. R.K. Bhat, Rtn. Prof. Gopinath P.A., Rtn. Prof. Radhakrishna, Rtn. Madhav Suvarna, Rtn. Dr. Vasanth Pai from Rotary Club, Mangalore and Dr. Rachana, Mr. Praveen from Indian Red Cross graced the occasion. 150 students registered their names to donate blood. 43 were rejected due to low hemoglobin where as 17 donors had rare negative groups. A record number of 90 units of blood was donated in this camp. The Rotary Club congratulated the staff and students of Canara College for participating in the noble cause. Canara College thanked Rtn. Gopinath P.A. former Principal, Canara PU College for his support. NSS Programme Officers Prof. Seema Prabhu S., Ms. Vindya B.B. and Conveners of Youth Red Cross Unit of the College Prof. Smitha M. and Prof. Roopashri K.P co-ordinated the camp.
