The inauguration of Certificate Course on “Consumer Education” was held on July 22, 2019 in the college seminar hall. The President of Dakshina Kannada District Federation of Consumer Organisation, Sri. M. J. Salian was the chief guest for this programme. The chief guest spoke on the Certificate Course on Consumer Education and how it would help the students in their personality development. He briefed about various activities that need to be carried out by the students. If students as a consumer come across any kind of grievance they can file a complaint and seek redress. Different types of complaints can be filed depending on the specific issue, by visiting the concerned Consumer Redressal Forum by submitting necessary documents. The resource person educated the students about consumer protection act and guided them to be strong enough to raise any issues affecting them. He also spoke on the various issues related to consumers like food adulteration, online shopping, and medical negligence and also recommended certain remedies to resolve these problems.
Awareness on consumer redressal forum and its functioning was made known to the students. The students were also acquainted with different aspects of consumer education.
