As an initiative of memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Yenepoya Speciality Hospital, Mangalore Canara College Youth Red Cross society conducted a session on ‘Health and Diet’ on August 02, 2019 .
Ms. Saaksha, Dietitian, Yenopoya Speciality Hospital, Kodialbail was the resource person. In her informative session she said, “The food we consume and how we make it determines the health of people and the planet, and we are seriously mistaken at the time. The world’s diets need to be altered dramatically as millions of individuals have inadequate nutrition, while many more consume an unhealthy diet that adds to premature death and disease.”
She shed light on a variety of plant as well as animal based foods in healthy diet as it provides essential nutrition and adequate calories required. She also highlighted the importance of changing lifestyle and food patterns to lower the risks of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), obesity, heart disease, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension and cancer.
42 volunteers of the association were benefitted from this informative session. Staff conveners Mrs. Smitha M and Mrs. Roopashri K.P coordinated the programme.
