NSS Units and Human Rights Cell of the college observed the Sadbhavana Diwas on August 21, 2019 on account of birth anniversary of Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi. This day is observed to encourage the national integration, peace, affection and communal harmony among the Indian people of all religions and spread the message of goodwill towards everyone and eschewing violence.
The resource person Dr. P.A. Bhat, Retired Professor of Political Science, Canara College, Mangaluru spoke on Communal Harmony. He, in his speech emphasized on the importance of coherence among the different religions. He also enriched the knowledge on abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir to create unity and integrity among the people of India. Students interacted with the resource person at the end of the session.
As part of the event, students and faculty members took a pledge to work for “the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion or language” and to resolve all differences “through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence”. NSS Programme Officer Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., administered the Sadbhavana Diwas oath to the NSS Volunteers and to HRC members.
The programme was attended by 198 students (146 NSS volunteers (89 Girls and 57 Boys) and 52 HRC members.) The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ganesh Shetty, Mrs. Seema Prabhu S. and Ms. Vindya B.B.
