As a Quality enhancement initiative, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College organized Felicitation to Prof. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, Hon‟ble Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University and a one day Orientation Workshop on “Innovative and Impactful Digital Learning with Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC)” for all the first year students and staff members on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Sudhindra Auditorium, Canara High School Campus, Dongerkery, Mangaluru, at 9:30 AM.
The Chief Guest Prof. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, Hon‟ble Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri, having received the felicitation, in his inaugural address expressed his delightedness and considered his felicitation as felicitation to ‘Mangalore University’ and lauded ‘Canara Institutions’ as an ‘Institution of Eminence.’ “I wish and hope to visit all the 210 affiliated colleges under the University during my tenure of office to create a bonding and belongingness with them so that they get the feeling that I am their Vice Chancellor” he added. Further, he emphasized on “Live and Let Live‟ policy for a smooth functioning and co-existence. He advised the students to respond to criticism only through good deeds. He also remarked the absence of a strong connectivity between the pen and mind and use social media judiciously. Appreciating the College for its quality enhancement initiative, he described MOOC as an add-on competency. Further, qualification and competency must go hand in hand for better employment prospects and professional development. MOOC will supplement and complement enrichment.
Sri M. Ranganath Bhat, Hon. Secretary, CHS Association, in his presidential address, expressed his gratitude and happiness said Vice-Chancellor is like a breath of fresh air bringing about required change in the education system thereby creating innumerable opportunities to learn.
Alumni Guest of Honor, Mr. Mithun Bhat Kakunje, Director, Kakunje Group of Industries, in his address said MOOC is a brilliant opportunity for all and to make the best use of the digital revolution.
The Workshop facilitator, Prof. T. Mallikarjunappa, Academic Coordinator, Dept. of Commerce and International Business, Central University of Kerala and Retd. Professor, Dept. of Business Administration and Former Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri, in his minds-on technical session gave detailed insights on MOOC, a Govt. of India recognized under the SWAYAM Scheme. He shared the avenues and opportunities available for making students effectively employable through these courses and also an exposure to learning from competent teachers across India.
Principal, Dr. K. V. Malini welcomed the guests and gathering. CA M. Vaman Kamath, Alternate Treasurer, CHS Association delivered the felicitation address. Sri M. Ranganath Bhat, the Hon. Secretary and other Governing Council members felicitated the Vice Chancellor. Members of the Governing Council, Sri Maroor Sudhir Pai, Correspondent, Sri Basty Purshotham Shenoy and Sri M. Ganesh Kamath were present. Mrs. Jalajakshi, Headmistress, Canara High School (Main), graced the occasion.
IQAC Coordinators Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan, gave an overview of the Workshop. Dr. Premalatha V., proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., faculty, Dept. of Commerce, compered the programme. Mrs. Dejamma A., HoD, Dept. of Commerce, coordinated the workshop.
