The NSS Volunteers of Canara College, Mangaluru joined hands with Amala Bharatha Abhiyana to clean the beaches and surroundings of Mangaluru to keep the city tidy and plastic free. The main purpose of these extension activities was to create awareness on consciousness for cleaner environment, awareness of marine pollution hazards and conservation and maintenance of recreational beaches. They took part actively in the following clean up initiatives:
- On July 13, 2019 at Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru surroundings.
- On September 8, 2019 at Someshwara and Uchila Beach.
- On September 22, 2019 as a part of International Coastal Cleanup Day at Boloor and Sulthan Battery.
All together nearly 180 NSS volunteers took part in this activity.
The volunteers learnt the importance of clean environment and the need for creation of awareness among the public.
