On the fourth day of navaratri that is on October 02,2019, twenty members of KBVM offered bhajan seva at Sri Mahamaya Temple, Car-street Mangaluru. The temple located in Mangaluru is one of the oldest temple devoted to the worship of shakthi.
As a part of extension activity, on this most auspicious day 20 students sung nearly 30 bhajans for two and half hours.
Many rituals are associated with navaratri festival. One among them is to wear a specific coloured cloth on each day of navaratri. A unique aspect is to drape the idol with specific colour saree which symbolizes a particular avatar. On the fourth day which is known as chathurthi, Goddess Durga is worshiped in the form of Kushmanda. It is believed that as the Goddess laughed the universe came into existence. On this day the Goddess is dressed in royal blue and her devotees can be seen wearing attires that are of the same colour including our KBVM students in respect of this tradition.
At 1.00 p.m. Maha aarathi was performed followed by prasadam that was distributed among students and other devotees by the temple archaka.
We could gauge the success of this program when the devotees appreciated us as we were winding up for the day.
