With reminiscence to our annual theme “Changing with Times” and also considering the above stated objectives, a new initiative initiated by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College from the academic year 2020, Luncheon Staff Appreciation Day 2020 was organized in a very meaningful and befitting manner on Saturday, February 29, 2020 in the College Seminar Hall from 2:00 PM onwards.
On this occasion, with an idea to promote human values and instill professional ethics amongst the staff members, a Spiritual Discourse on the theme “Values and Ethics in Profession : From Effectiveness to Greatness” was organized. Pujya Sri Sharad Viharai Dasa, Founder Trustee, BACCE Foundation delivered the discourse. Kindling the lamp and appreciating on the annual theme chosen, Pujya Swamiji in his discourse narrated several short stories and anecdotes which highlighted the essence of human values and significance of professionalism. He also emphasized on experiential learning gaining more relevance today as it is personal and effective in nature, which influences feelings and emotions as well as enhances knowledge and skills. It goes beyond classroom learning and ensures that there is high level of retention, thereby delivering exceptional role over a traditional learning styles. Further, we are driven by our goals and dreams. But our aspirations are nothing, if not backed by a good attitude. Therefore, we all need to walk the extra mile to set a right tone for developing right attitude in us. He said – “Body, mind, intelligence, ego and soul are the five persons inside each one of us. Hence, rightly understanding them through ‘Power of Prayers’ can take us long way ahead in our lives. Thus, it can make us a holistic individual.”
The discourse also sought the participation of the staff in a group activity conducted by Swamiji and Mr. Shubham Kulal, Coordinator for BACCE. The discourse began with an invocation led by faculty Mrs. Laxmi Hegde and Ms. Keerthi. Dr. Kalpana Prabhu J., Head, Dept. of Hindi welcomed the gathering and also introduced Pujya Swamiji. Dr.Premalatha V., IQAC Coordinator felicitated Pujya Swamiji.
This was followed by the formal programme to present Staff Excellence Awards 2020. CA M. Vaman Kamath, Alternate Treasurer, CHS Association, Mangaluru presided over the programme. During the programme, he released the “Stakeholders Handbook on Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics” developed by the IQAC. Speaking on the occasion, he said – “I am extremely delighted to be here and celebrating this special day with Canara Family. It gives me a great pleasure in releasing the Stakeholders Handbook on Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics developed by the IQAC. Hope that this Handbook will enable us to be a better stakeholder by understanding of our roles, responsibilities, duties and expected appropriate behavior. Often when employees and their work are valued, their commitment, satisfaction and productivity rises, and they are motivated to maintain or improve their good work. Praise and recognition are essential to an outstanding workplace. People want to be appreciated and valued by others for their contribution. Therefore, an exclusive occasion of this type right suffices the need. I appreciate and congratulate the continuous efforts of the institute towards instilling quality.” He also presented “Staff Excellence Awards 2020” to 15 staff members in recognition of their commitment to excellence in their respective areas of domain.

Administrative Staff Mrs. Kasturi K., First Division Clerk was bid a farewell on the occasion of her retirement from the service in recognition of long service to the institution for having served for nearly 37 years. CA M. Vaman Kamath offered her the felicitations. Librarian Mrs. Rekha Devi K., Office Staff Mr. Sridhar Prabhu and Principal Dr. K. V. Malini delivered the felicitation address and wish all well for her contented retired life ahead. In response, Mrs. Kasturi K., expressed her gratefulness to the Management, Principal and all her colleagues.
Mrs. Dejamma A., Head, Dept. of Commerce welcomed the gathering. IQAC Coordinator Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan gave insights on the significance of the day and Stakeholders Handbook. Principal Dr. K. V. Malini announced the names of the recipients of awardees. Faculty Mrs. Dhanyashree compered the programme. IQAC Coordinator Dr. Premalatha V., proposed the vote of thanks.
