NSS units of Canara College in association with Mangalore University organized a University level Virtual Interactive Workshop on “Roadmap to Reboot, Reboost and Rebuild in the Post Lock- down World” on May 02,2020.
The workshop had commenced at (IST) 10.00 am via Zoom App with the inaugural address by Dr. Gananatha Shetty Yekkar, State NSS Programme Officer and Ex-officio Joint Secretary, Department of Youth Empowerment & Sports, Government of Karnataka. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized the need for maintaining social distance, enhancing immunity, creating social awareness and developing positive outlook during this hard time.
Dr. Poornima Jogi, State NSS Implementation Officer, stressed on creating & spreading awareness about Covid-19 and requested the students to stay home and thereby break the chain of corona with a special reference to an instance of the epic ‘Mahabharata’. She has also shared various helpdesk contact numbers and encouraged the volunteers to create awareness about these emergency contact details via social media.
The Key note speakers Dr. Nagarathna K A, NSS Co-ordinator, Mangalore University and Mr. Devi Prasad, Nodal Officer, Covid-19, D.K. district also stated the precautionary measures to be taken post lockdown. They have requested the students to maintain physical distance and to spread the authentic information shared by the Government or WHO.
Dr. Avinash Joe MBBS, MD., Department of Psychiatry, Fr. Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru was the resource person. In his presentation he has shared his views in 3 important areas such as Covid-19 updates, Lockdown exit Strategy and Post Lockdown precautions. He suggested to improve the infrastructure at educational institutions with larger classrooms, Phygital system of classes, improve internet and WIFI system, better the speed of internet, better the web security and use of apps, use of laptops and webinars for distance teaching and learning. He also cleared various myths circulated in WhatsApp and social media without any official approvals.

A total of 78 NSS Volunteers and faculty members, NSS Programme Officers of different college were trained during this workshop.
Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., NSS PO of Canara College organized this workshop and welcomed the gathering. Mr. Hardik P. Chuhan, IQAC coordinator delivered the vote of thanks. The workshop was compered by Ms. Bindiya Shet, President, Students Council of the College.
