A virtual Interactive Workshop on “Social Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Youth” was organised by NSS Units of the College on June 16, 2021. The resource person was Mr. Rajan Bellarpady, Executive Director, Mangala Resource Management Pvt. Ltd, Mangaluru (A start up on solid waste management) and Alumnus of the College. He briefed the volunteers about the solid waste management. He explained the Modern Waste Management Techniques such as Recover through Recycling, Biological Reprocessing, Dump in a Sanitary Landfill, Waste to Energy (WtE), Composting: Creating rich humus for your garden and lawn, Bioremediation, Thermal Treatment: Incineration and Plasma Gasification. Further he highlighted the initiatives taken up by Ramakrishna Mission , Mangaluru to keep the Managluru city Clean and tidy. He deliberated on the various social entrepreneurial opportunities available in the field of Solid Waste.
Mr. Hariprasad S., Assistant Professor of Commerce & NSS Programme Officer of Government First Grade College, Bettampady was the Guest of Honour. He appreciated the efforts of NSS Units of Canara College, Mangaluru to organise a very relevant webinar.
The session was presided by Dr. Premalatha V., Principal of the College. A total of 132 NSS Volunteers actively involved in this interactive webinar. The webinar was coordinated by Mrs. Seema Prabhu S. and Mrs. Kavyashree K, NSS Programme Officers of the College.
