NSS Units of Canara College, Mangaluru in collaboration with Lions and Leo Club, Kadri Hills MJF, Mangaluru organised Cancer Awareness Programme on July 20, 2022 in the Seminar Hall.
“Cancer is not an incurable disease, cancer can be cured if detected early. Sedentary lifestyle, lack of vitamins and minerals, weak immunity, heredity – cancer can be caused by many reasons. Instead of resorting to external foods, eating nutritious food, light exercise, a bit of walking – if you change your lifestyle, you can prevent cancer,” said Dr Prashant B. of Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, the resource persson of the cancer awareness programme. He created awareness among the students by giving detailed information about the characteristics of cancer, its treatment, prevention methods etc.
NSS Programme Officers of the college Mrs Seema Prabhu S, Mrs Vani U S and Lion Sumitra Shetty, President of Lions and Leo Club, Kadri Hills MJF, Mangaluru were present on the stage. Lion Sridhar, Lion Ritesh Rao, Lion Satishan, Lion Prashant Pai, Lion Ashok Kamath, Lion Vidya Kamath were present for the programme. Mr Abhin Bangera, NSS Volunteer welcomed and introduced the chief guest. Mr Pratish Malli proposed the vote of thanks. Ms Sharanya compered the programme. 168 NSS Volunteers benefitted from this awareness programme.
