Raksha Bandhan was celebrated on August 12, 2022, in the college campus with enthusiasm to promote harmony among all the members of society to protect each other. All together 1400 students including office bearers participated. Students accompanied by Student Welfare Mentors – Mrs. Sushma R Shetty, Ms. Madhushree and Mrs. Swathi Nayak, visited each class, and students tied rakhis to all the students. Students tied rakhi around the wrist in order to pray for his prosperity, health and wellbeing.
Deepak Hedge, Secretary, Student Welfare Council, read the significance of the Rakshabandan festival. It is celebrated not like any other festival. As it is dedicated to the love of sister and her brother, it holds immense importance in Hinduism. The name of the festival, Rakshabandan is made up of two words Raksha (protection) and Bandan (relation). On this day, sister ties Rakhi around her brother’s wrist, while the brother undertakes an oath to protect her until death. He vows to stand by his sister through thick and thin. Sister tying the sacred thread around the wrist of brother is a symbol of attachment, meant to strengthen their bond of love.
