But in practice, democracies are often plagued by corruption. When good people in any country cease their vigilance and struggle, then evil men prevail. It has increased by leaps and bounds worldwide, in a direct relation and proportion to our moral degradation, destruction, of character, devaluation of human values and lust for power and money. A strong and effective vigilance mechanism is therefore cardinal to provide corruption-free and clean governance to the public. Let the positive change usher in the Azadi ka Amrit Kaal. Furthermore, adoption of different forms of vigilance into the system can go a long way in curbing the menace of corruption”. He also cited some of the real-life instances from the life of Sri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri who are known for upholding highest integrity and honesty in their public life.
