Observance of National Integration Week 2022

In consonance with the directives of the State Government and that of the affiliating University, National Integration Week – Qaumi Ekta Sapta 2022 in commemoration of the 105th birth anniversary of the First ever and only Woman Prime Minister and Iron Lady of India Bharat Ratna Smt. Indira Gandhi, was meaningfully observed by the institute, from November 19 to 25, 2022. A formal concluding programme of the same was held on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 3:30 P.M. in the Lecture Hall 01.

Mr. Radhakrishna Hegde, Branch Manager, Life Insurance Corporation of India, Mangaluru, Branch-02, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his message, he said “The entire nation commemorates the National Integration Week in the reminiscence of the birth anniversary of Smt. Indira Gandhi – the Iron Lady of India. This occasion also reminds us that India has always put its women on top which is why we had a woman Prime Minister. India is a land of diversity and this is the biggest strength it has. It is a nation with extensive cultural, multi-lingual, multi-religious, multi-sects, and multi-geological diversified provinces. We must nurture and appreciate the diversity we are bestowed with. The observance promotes the message of preserving unity and integrity among the citizens, regardless of their cast, color, language, religion and societal status. It is the duty of the citizens of a country to make its country proud and strong. Let us reaffirm to do so as we commemorate this occasion. Being the responsible citizens of the country, it is an apt occasion to celebrate harmony, brotherhood and unity in diversity to create a stronger nation.”

Mrs. Dejamma A., Head, Dept. of Commerce and Management, IQAC Coordinator, and Officiating Principal administered the Pledge for Integration and presided over the programme. In her Presidential address she said – “This occasion enables us to cherish the visionary thoughts of Late Smt. Indira Gandhi who always worked towards achieving the goals of Secularism, Socialism, and Liberalism which is the base of a democratic nation. Her effort to tying the nation in one single knot is remarkable. The occasion and observance not only reminds her but also spreads the message of cultural and social togetherness. National integration is the social responsibility of each and every citizen of a country. Therefore, we must stand united for protecting the national unity, security and solidarity; irrespective of all our social, linguistic and religious differences. Let us all inculcate positive thoughts in ourselves and support the integration of different aspects of our nation and help in promoting the national integration in true spirit. Let us all as Indians stand together to uphold the noble and lofty ideas and ideals of our great nation’s forbearers and keep the Indian flag flying high always. ”

The IQAC Coordinator Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan welcomed the guest and gathering. Ms. Sheetal Pai, Vice President, Student Welfare Council made the opening remarks and gave more insights on the significance of National Integration. Mrs. Laxmi Hegde, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Commerce and Management announced the prize winners of various competitions held in connection with the occasion. The Student Welfare Mentor Mrs. Sushma R. Shetty proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Shrivathsa Somayaji and Mr. Akash C. S., Students of BBA rendered the prayer song. Ms. Dyafna K. V., Student of II B.Com. compered the programme. The Student Welfare Mentor Ms. Madhushree, and the Vice President of Student Welfare Council Ms. Sanjana Sanjay too were present on the dais. The occasion concluded with the singing of National Anthem.

A total of 75 attendees including the students and teaching staff attended this programme.

Also in earnest enthusiasm as an ardent responsibility towards nation’s integration, and as a step ahead towards reinforcing the virtues of harmony, peace and brotherhood; a week-long activities and initiatives were undertaken by the institute to observe the National Integration Week 2022. Necessary directives were issued to the concerned Associations and Cells of the institute to undertake appropriate initiatives to observe the same in a befitting and meaningful manner. The initiatives undertaken includes the following :

  • A Special Talk on “Bhasha Vividhata se Rashtriya Aikyata” was organized by Hind, Kannada and Sanskrit Sangha.
  • An Awareness Talk on “Communal Harmony, Non-violence and National Integration” was organized by the Equal Opportunity Cell.
  • An Extension Activity on “Economic Empowerment of Women” for the inmates of the District Prison of Mangaluru, was organized by the Investors’ Club.
  • An Extension Activity to create awareness on “Bhasha Souhardatha” at S.A.T.H.S., Manjeshwar, was organized by the Konkani Bhasha Vidyarti Mandal (KBVM).
  • Collage Making Competition on the theme “Unity in Diversity” was organized by the Fine Arts Association.
  • Power Point Presentation Competition on the topic “Great Daughters of India contributing towards Nation Building was organized by Cell for Women and Gender Studies (CWGS) and Women Empowerment Cell (WEC)”
  • “Design a Poster and Spread the Message of Cleanliness” was organized by the Department of Zoology as an endeavor to protecting environment by taking one step towards cleanliness.
  • An Elocution Competition on the topic “Communal Harmony and Non-violence “A means to National Integration” was organized by the Student Welfare Council.

    The observance inculcated the spirit of unity in diversity amidst the socio-culturally diverse nation while endeavoring to reaffirm our collective strength to remain united as a country with strong nationalistic fervor. The staff and students took the Pledge for Integration.

    The programme strived to achieve the core values of contributing to the national development and inculcating a sense of value system amongst all.
