The Department of Botany in association with Nature Club organized a Bio Rangoli competition for the students of all streams on December 09, 2022. Students selected various topics of biology and exhibited them in the form of rangoli by using grains, pulses and spices. Two participants made a team, 14 teams participated in the competition. They prepared rangoli of plant cell, structure of HIV virus, neuron structure, flower etc. Participants were briefed on the rules of the competition at the beginning. According to the rules only grains, pulses, spices were allowed. Each team decided its own theme for the rangoli making.
The judges of this competition were Mrs. Sushama. C, Assistant Professor and H.O.D of Zoology and Mrs. Babitha Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science. The criteria for the judgment were design, neatness, colour combination and creativity. Ms. Shravyashree and Ms. Sowmya Shenoy from II BSc won First place, Mr. Narashima Puranik and Mr.Chintan Rai from II BSc won Second place while Ms. Anusha Prabhu and Mr. Anish from II BSc won Third place in the competition. The interest of all the participants was well appreciated by the judges. The competition resulted in an overall recreation activity after a hectic and monotonous routine college work. A creative side of students was also seen. Ms. Madhushree, H.O.D of Botany and Mrs. Nishvitha Shetty, Convenor of Nature Club coordinated the activity. This activity strived to achieve the core values of quest for excellence and fostering global competency.
