The National Service Scheme aims to develop the personality and leadership skills of young people. To support this objective, a training programme on leadership skills was conducted for NSS volunteers on December 10, 2022. The resource person was Mrs. Rajeshwari Shetty, Proprietor Disha – Career towards Excellence, Mangaluru.
The training programme was conducted using a range of techniques, such as group discussions, role plays, case studies, and interactive sessions. The trainer employed a participatory method to guarantee that all participants were actively involved in the learning process. A variety of subjects relevant to leadership qualities were covered in the training programme. They covered team building, problem-solving, communication, and leadership theories. In addition, the trainer pointed out the importance of self-awareness and self-reflection as essential elements of successful leadership.
The training programme was highly helpful in enhancing the participants’ leadership qualities. By the end of the programme, the participants had a solid grasp of the most important leadership ideas and were able to apply them in real life situations. Together with these skills, the participants improved their ability to communicate and solve problems. They showed a significant capacity for leadership and were able to collaborate well in groups. This programme trained 51 NSS Volunteers in total. The attendees submitted overwhelmingly good comments regarding the training programme and appreciated the trainer’s participatory approach.
Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., Mrs. Vani U.S., the NSS Programme Officers and Mrs. Sumithra Shetty, the President of Lions Club, Kadri Hills, Mangaluru organized this training programme.
