With the primary objective of familiarizing and highlighting the lives of the great daughters of India who have carved a niche for themselves in their respective fields – often in uncharted territories – by overcoming barriers and beating the odds to reach their goals, Cell for Women and Gender Studies organized an outreach programme – ‘Familiarizing Women Achievers of India’ – to Balika Ashrama at 2:00pm, on December 17, 2022.
Sambhrama, Sonali, Ananya and Stuti, the four student members of CWGS, as part of preparation for the outreach programme, prepared A3 sized charts displaying the photo, brief history, achievements, awards and invaluable contribution of the great daughters of India. Each one created informative and eye-catching charts showcasing two great Indian women achievers: Kiran Bedi, Fatima Beevi, Sania Mirza, Bachendri Pal, Aishwarya Rai. These incredible women are the role models and serve as an inspiration for the young generation.
Innovative teaching activities were undertaken for the inmates of Balika Ashrama. A quiz round using placards with pictures of great women achievers, and entertaining games, too, were organized for the young girls.
It was indeed an enhanced educational experience for the students. 80 participants benefited from this programme. The Programme was coordinated by Mrs. Vijetha Bhat and Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat, Convenors, Cell for Women and Gender Studies.
