To describe the saponification method and its reaction through activities, the Department of Chemistry organized a “Saponification-Soap/Detergent making” activity for I BSc Chemistry Open Elective students on January 11 & 14, 2023 in Chemistry laboratories. This activity gave access to laboratories for elective students to study theoretical concepts via experimentation. 10 students actively participated and prepared soaps and detergents using the saponification method. This activity helped them to prepare solutions in the laboratory. During their training, they could apply their theoretical knowledge of normality, molality, equivalent and molecular weight. Students were enthusiastically involved and interested in doing this activity again using various colours and shapes.
