Inaugural Ceremony:
The inaugural ceremony of CANFEST 2023 was held on Day 1 at 9:00 a.m. at Canara College. CA Kedarnath Shenoy A., Partner, Manohar Choudhary Associates, Faculty, and Author, was the Chief Guest and Inaugurator of the annual flagship event. The chief guest, addressing the gathering, elucidated on the anecdote of Mr. Rithesh Aggarwal, the young Indian entrepreneur and founder and CEO of OYO Rooms, and inspired the students, saying they must make good use of CANFEST to discover their inner creativity and demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills.
Commercia 2023:
This year’s Commercia 2023 came with the theme “The Kemmet:The Land of Hidden Secrets.” The fest with its multitude of twists and turns, was comprised of seven major events: CEO, Human Resources, Public Relations, Finance, Marketing, Quiz, and G20. A total of 218 students from 22 colleges and 137 of our own students were involved in organizing this fest. The events were judged by eminent professors, professionals, practitioners and our own alumni members. SDM College of Business Management, Mangaluru, won the Overall Championship, while Trisha College of Commerce and Management, Mangaluru, got Runner-up.
Scientica 2023:
This year’s Scientica 2023 came with the theme ‘Pioneer the Frontiers.’ The fest comprised of 9 major events : 4 from Basic Science, 4 from Computer Science & Applications, and 1 combined event, namely Auroa (Physics), Khemeia (Chemistry), Mathware (Maths & Computer Science), Mighty Chondrias (Life Science), Bytebash (Coding), Wesign Wizard (Web-Designing), Cool Nerd (IT Manager), Ace-It-Up (Gaming), and Aikyam (G20). A total of 166 participants from 17 colleges and 160 of our students were involved in organizing this fest. Major rounds of the events were judged by eminent professors, professionals, practitioners, and our own alumni members. All the events were planned and executed under the able leadership of student conveners, Ms. Vikhitha.V. and Ms. Suvidha Shetty. Poorna Prajna College, Udupi, won the Overall Championship, and St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, got the Runners-up.
Omniscient 2023:
The Centre for PG Studies in Commerce conducted a national level intercollegiate PG fest titled ‘Omniscient.’ It was the ultimate fusion of commerce and creativity, where minds met to exchange ideas and showcase business acumen. From the adrenaline rush of business simulations to the thrill of marketing challenges, there was something for everyone at this fest. Omniscient was a chance to expand the horizon, explore new frontiers, and unlock the secrets of success with creativity, professionalism, and innovation at its core. Over the course of the fest, we saw some remarkable performances from the participants, who demonstrated their proficiency in various fields–finance, marketing, human resources, research and development, and best manager. The panel of judges comprised experts from industry and academia. AJ Institute of Management, Mangaluru, won the ‘Best Business Team-Overall Championship.’
Valedictory Ceremony:
The valedictory ceremony began at 4 p.m. on Day 2. The Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function, CA Sriram V. Rao, Partner, Nitin J. Shetty & Co., Mangaluru and Bengaluru, complimented the staff and student conveners for their flawlessly organized event. Then, addressing the students, he shared his life experiences and advised them to think out of the box and not to quit even in the most difficult situation. While highlighting the need, use, and influence of social media in the modern age, the esteemed guest also cautioned the youth not to get addicted to social media and to use it meticulously to flourish. He further urged the students to bring good name and fame to their alma mater, native place, and motherland.This fest strived to achieve the core values of fostering global competency, promoted the use of technology, and elicited a quest for excellence.
