NSS Units of Canara College, Mangaluru, organized SRUJANA 2023, an NSS Fest on the college campus on April 17, 2023. It is a unique one-day intercollegiate competition organized by NSS units of our college exclusively for the NSS volunteers and fully funded by our Management, the CHS Association. The grand event began with the flag hoisting by Mr. Shivanand Shenoy, Manager, Canara College.
SRUJANA ’23 was inaugurated by the customary lamp lighting ceremony, followed by the inaugural address by Mr. Madhava Suvarna, an alumnus of the college. In his inaugural address, he cited the importance of NSS, how it serves the nation, how it helps build interpersonal skills, etc. He called on the students to join the Rotary Club to understand service towards one’s nation.
C A Vaman Kamath, Treasurer, CHS Association, presided over the programme emphasizing the importance of focus and the three factors; Shortcomings, Fear and Expectations that influence an individual’s growth. NSS Fest serves as a platform to understand these factors and get to know people better. He wished the occasion a great success.
Dr. Kalpana Prabhu J., the Staff Coordinator, welcomed the gathering, and Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., NSS Programme Officer, gave a bird’s-eye view of the ensuing fest. Dr. Premalatha V, the Principal, conveyed her best wishes for the success of Srujana.
Various competitions like Street Play, Wealth out of Waste, Face Painting, Poster Writing, Dance Drama, Group Singing, Reels, and Best All-Rounder were held. 23 college teams took part in Srujana 2023.
Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, won the Overall Championship and St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru, won the Runners-Up trophy, respectively. Dr. Nagarathna K. A., NSS Coordinator, Mangalore University, honoured the winners, and Mr. Basti Purushotham Shenoy, Governing Council Member of the CHS Association, presided over the valedictory function. Mrs. Vani U. S., NSS Programme Officer, proposed the vote of thanks.
