Accepting the cordial invitation of Kannada Sangha, Cochin, Ernakulam, the students of Department of Kannada of our College conducted a cultural programme related to Kannada art and culture on account of Cochin Kannada Samskruthi Uthsav Celebration on April 30, 2023 at E. M. S. Memorial Town Hall, Cochin, Ernakulam, Kerala.
The function was presided over by Sri Shivananda Tagadoor, President, KUWJ. Mrs. Vani U. S., Head, Department of Kannada was invited as the President for the Multilingual Poet Meet. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. C. Somashekhar, IAS, President, Karnataka Border Development Authority. Sri Basavaraj Horatti, Speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly; Sri Haibi Eedan, MP, Ernakulam, Sri A. K. M. Ashraf, MLA, Manjeshwar graced the occasion.
“The Karnataka Border Development Authority has been working to promote Kannada language, culture and identity both in the border and other states. It is the duty of the state to preserve and protect the identity of the linguistic minorities such as Kannadigas of Kasaragod,” remarked Dr. C. Somashekhar in his inaugural speech. Our students gave a one-hour variety entertaining cultural performance comprising solo song, Yakshagana and group song. Total 06 students participated in this programme.This programme aimed to contribute to national development, inculcate value system and foster quest for excellence.
