Soft skills are a vital component of personal and professional development, contributing significantly to an individual’s success in various areas of life. Recognizing the importance of enhancing these skills, an add-on course on soft skills was conducted to equip participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel in today’s dynamic and interconnected world.
With this motive, an ‘Add-on Course on Soft Skills’ of 45 hours duration was organized by Cell for Advanced Studies in Commerce and Management of Canara College in the month of May and June 2023 for II And III year students of the college.
The add-on course was designed as an interactive and practical program. It comprised a series of modules, case studies, group activities, and discussions. The course content included the following topics:
• Effective Communication and Active Listening
• Building Empathy and Emotional Intelligence
• Teamwork and Collaboration
• Leadership Development
• Time Management and Goal Setting
• Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Skills
• Fostering Creativity and Innovation
• Resume Writing
• Interview preparation and Mock Interview
Throughout the course, participants were engaged in hands-on exercises, role-plays, and real-life simulations to practice and reinforce the concepts learned. Expert facilitators with extensive experience in the respective soft skills domains facilitated the sessions.
40 students participated and benefitted from this session. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath, and Mrs. Lavina Noronha, Conveners of Cell for Advanced Studies in Commerce and Management.
