Department of Mathematics organized an extension activity- “Easy Way of Learning Mathematics for rural area school students on June 03, 2023 at Government High School, Nada, Belthangady. Mrs. Keerthi Alva, HOD, Department of Mathematics and Mrs. Poornima, Faculty Convenor, delivered a practical session on “Easy Way of Learning Mathematics”. The aim of this program was to provide vital life skills to rural school students, and also to enable the students to solve problems, measure and develop their analytical thinking.
The simple techniques to solve Multiplication, Addition, Fraction, Subtraction of large numbers using Vedic Mathematics and techniques to learn big number tables were taught in this session. Vedic Maths helps students solve Mathematical problems many times faster and reduces the burden of memorizing difficult concepts. Also, math related games and puzzles were conducted for the students. Students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the session. 50 students benefitted from the activity.
At the end of the session, students interacted and few of them tried simple techniques of Vedic Math to solve problems. The session concluded successfully. Later sweets were distributed to school students.
