A Student Development Programme on Writing Effective Research Paper was organized by the Cell for Advanced Studies in Commerce and Management of Canara College on June 9, 2023, for the First-year students by Ms. Akshaya Pai student of I M.com, Centre for PG Studies in Commerce of the college. The Program provided knowledge and guidance to first-year students on writing research papers. The program content included the topics such as

a) Understanding Research Paper Structure: Introduction to the sections and components of a research paper, Guidelines for writing an effective abstract, Importance of a clear and concise introduction, Interpreting and presenting research results, constructing a logical and coherent discussion and conclusion

b) Research Skills Development: Identifying research topics and research questions, Conducting literature reviews and evaluating sources, Gathering and analyzing relevant data, Interpreting research findings and drawing conclusions, Ethical considerations in research

c) Writing Techniques and Style: Organizing ideas and structuring the research paper using appropriate language, tone, style, and summarizing techniques

d) Critical Thinking and Analysis: Developing critical thinking skills, Evaluating and synthesizing information, Supporting arguments with evidence

75 students participated and benefitted from this session. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Anasuya Bhagwath, and Mrs. Lavina Noronha, Conveners of Cell for Advanced Studies in Commerce and Management.
