An Investor Education Programme in association with Bombay Stock Exchange was organized by the Department of Commerce and Management, Canara College, Mangaluru as part of World Investor Week. It was held on June 22, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. The programme was attended by 80 students. The Resource Person of the programme was Mr. Ramachandra, an expert in the Capital Market with in depth knowledge of various investment products offered in the Capital Market.
The Resource Person started the session by addressing the students about the importance of money and the relationship between Save, Spend and Invest. He highlighted the need to have more self-regulated and systematic saving habits to secure one’s financial future. He discussed the concept of Investments. He gave insights into differences between savings and investments. He also elaborated the impact of inflation and the benefits of investing. In his presentation, he also highlighted about the various options for achieving individual’s financial goals. He gave information about the concept of mutual fund and the reasons behind investing in mutual fund; and explained why it is important to invest in mutual fund at an early age to get the maximum returns.
The session was coordinated by Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath and Mrs. Lavina Noronha, Faculty Conveners, Department of Commerce and Management. This programme helped in fostering global competency and eliciting quest for excellence among the students.
