Six National Service Scheme Volunteers from Canara College, Mangaluru, have actively participated in a noteworthy community service initiative at the Polali temple, contributing their time and efforts towards note and coin counting. Prior to the counting process, NSS volunteers received comprehensive training on the proper techniques for counting different denominations of notes and coins accurately. Emphasis was placed on the importance of maintaining confidentiality and respecting the temple’s sanctity.
Volunteers diligently collected coins from the temple’s donation boxes. They then sorted the coins by denomination to facilitate the counting process. In a secure and supervised environment, NSS volunteers counted the notes donated by the devotees. They meticulously recorded the denomination, quantity, and total amount for each denomination. Accurate records were maintained throughout the counting process. The details of the count were systematically documented, ensuring transparency and accountability. The NSS Programme Officers, Mrs. Seema Prabhu S. and Mrs. Vani U.S. coordinated this extension activity.
The volunteering project at the Polali Temple, Bantwal for note and coin counting by NSS volunteers was a resounding success. It achieved its objectives of supporting the temple’s donation management, promoting transparency, and nurturing a spirit of service among the volunteers. The collaboration between the NSS and the temple exemplifies the potential of such initiatives to create a positive impact on both the community and the volunteers involved. The selfless efforts of the NSS volunteers have set an inspiring example of how small acts of service can contribute significantly to the welfare of society.
