The NSS Units of our College conducted an outreach program for Paper Bag Making at Chethana Child Development Centre, Mangaluru. The activity took place on June 26, 27, 28, and 30, 2023, where a total of 52 NSS Volunteers actively participated in creating paper bags at the Centre. These paper bags will be utilized by the school and the children for various purposes, reducing the need for single-use plastic bags.
The paper bag making outreach program at Chethana Child Development Centre was a great success. Not only did it raise awareness about environmental issues, but it also instilled a strong sense of responsibility in the volunteers towards safeguarding the environment. The management and staff at the centre appreciated and acknowledged the efforts of the NSS volunteers.
We hope that the valuable lessons learned during this program will have a lasting impact on the behavior of the volunteers, inspiring them to become eco-conscious citizens. The coordination of this program was done by NSS Programme Officers, Mrs. Seema Prabhu S. and Mrs. Vani U.S. The initiative aligned with the core values of Contribution to National Development and Inculcating a Value System among the students.
The volunteering activity of making paper bags for the School of Special Children was a heartwarming and fulfilling experience for the NSS Volunteers. This outreach program not only encouraged eco-friendly practices but also fostered a sense of inclusivity and empowerment among the volunteers and special children.
