The orientation program for the first-year degree students of the academic year 2023-24 at Canara College took place at T.V. Raman Pai Convention Centre in Mangaluru on August 25, 2023. Sri. Keshav Bangera, a lecturer and distinguished speaker from Shri Narayana Guru College, Mangaluru, graced the event as the Chief Guest. He encouraged the students not to lose sight of their dreams and objectives while adapting to the new city environment, highlighting the need for unwavering commitment, much like Hanuman’s loyalty.
Sri. CA M. Vaman Kamath, Treasurer of C.H.S. Association & Correspondent of Canara Evening College and Canara Vikas College, presided over the program. He emphasized the importance of consistent performance and upholding the institution’s reputation, regardless of the diverse backgrounds of the students. Sri. CA M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent, Canara College, was the guest of honor, underscoring the significance of students excelling not only within their homes but also representing the institution well, even when they venture abroad.
During the program, Sri. Murali Krishna Sharma, a proud alumnus of the college who contributed to the remarkable success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, was remembered. Dr. Deepti Nayak, Administrator, Canara College, emphasized the importance of interest and professionalism at the graduation level to achieve one’s goals. Dr. Premalatha V, Principal, Canara College, introduced the program. Sri. K. Shivananda Shenoy, the Manager, and Mr. Abhin Bangera, the President of the previous academic year’s Student Council, were also part of the event. Mr. Abhin Bangera shared his views and experiences as an alumnus. Various association coordinators provided brief insights into their activities.
Mrs. Babitha S., Student Welfare Mentor, extended a warm welcome to the gathering, and Mr. Avinash, Student Welfare Mentor, delivered the vote of thanks. The first session of the event was hosted by Mrs. Shailaja Kumari T., and the second session was hosted by Mrs. Smitha M., Student Welfare Mentors. A total of 466 students attended the orientation program with great zeal and enthusiasm.The event instilled a valuable set of values in students, igniting a drive for excellence and motivating them to strive for perfection.
