Rashtriya Ekta Diwas – National Unity Day 2023 in commemoration of the 148th birth anniversary of Sri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was celebrated by the Institute, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the College Seminar Hall.
Lt. Col. Gracian Sequiera, Administrative Officer of 18 Karnataka Battalion NCC was the chief guest. In his address, he stated, “Today is the day we all commemorate the birth anniversary of a great legendary, Bharat Ratna Sri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is rightly called as the Rashtra Rachaita (i.e. Unifier of the Nation), the epitome of India’s unity; a real fighter and a great politico-strategic visionary, who played a crucial role, after India’s Independence in the unification of 562 Indian Princely States into the Indian Union. This day spreads the message of unity and harmony. The pledge of unity symbolizes our spirit of oneness despite our diversity in various ways. This day, therefore, will continue to remind us how much effort Sri Sardar Patel put in to bring the different states of our country together. Furthermore, while citing some of the interesting real-life instances from Patel’s life, he brought out the distinct qualities of Patel viz., his love for motherland, simplicity, honesty, integrity, selfless dynamic leadership, pragmatic approach, earthly wisdom, and discipline which will ever remain an inspiration for all of us. Sardar Patel is not just a historical figure but lives in the heart of every countryman.” He also shared his personal experiences in the armed forces, emphasizing the sacrifices made by the soldiers to protect the integrity and unity of the nation.
The Principal Dr. Premalatha V. administered the Pledge for Unity and presided over the programme. In her Presidential address, she stressed on the importance of unity in the diverse fabric of our nation and how it shapes our identity as Indians. Her words encouraged the audience to reflect on the values of unity and brotherhood.
Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath, IQAC Coordinator welcomed the guest and the gathering. Mrs. Prathima V Baliga, IQAC Co-Coordinator extended a heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the programme. Mrs. Usha Nayak, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Commerce & Management compered the programme. Ms. Shwetha Kamath, III BCA rendered the invocation. Administrator Dr. Deepti Nayak, Staff members and students were present. Altogether 110 members participated in the programme.
The National Unity Day celebration served as an inspiration for students, teachers, and staff to contemplate their collective duty in safeguarding our nation’s unity while honoring the visionary leader, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a pivotal role in unifying India. The event left a profound and lasting impact, strengthening the attendees’ unwavering commitment to national unity.
