NSS Units of Canara College, Mangaluru in association with Vinaya Krishi Belegarara Sangha, Vinaya Tengu Raithodpadak Company Limited and Odiyooru Shree Guru Devanand Seva Balaga mattu Shree Vajramath Mahila Vikaas Kendra Mangaluru Krishi Ilakhe Moodbidre Ilakhe organized a workshop on agriculture and paddy harvesting at Devadiga Fields, Near Chandramauleshwar Temple, Bellaayaru Kolnad, Mulki on December 03, 2023. 43 NSS volunteers actively participated in the workshop and the harvesting programme. The day long programme aimed to provide hands-on experience to the volunteers in paddy harvesting techniques, promote rural entrepreneurship and community development, and contribute to the welfare of the farming community.
Mr.Vasanth Kulkarni, Agriculture Officer, Moodabidri Hoballi conducted a workshop on agriculture educating the volunteers on the principles and practices of organic farming, including the benefits, different types of systems and plant nutrition. He also trained the volunteers on paddy harvesting techniques such as cutting, threshing, winnowing, and drying. He also provided insights into the challenges and opportunities related to paddy cultivation and harvesting, and emphasized the importance of agriculture in the country’s economy and food security. The volunteers actively participated in the paddy harvesting process, in cutting the paddy stalks, carrying harvested paddy to the threshing machine.
