Budget Breakdown Battle: Analyzing the Union Budget 2024

The Centre for Postgraduate Studies in Commerce organized the Union Budget Analysis Competition on February 12, 2024, which aimed to foster a deeper understanding of fiscal policies and government budgeting processes among students. The competition comprised two rounds: a preliminary quiz round and a final presentation round. The quiz round served as a qualifier, with the top participants advancing to the presentation round to analyze specific aspects of the Union Budget.

Round 1: Quiz: The first round of the competition featured a quiz designed to test participants’ knowledge of budget-related concepts, economic principles, and current affairs. A total of 58 students participated in this round, demonstrating enthusiasm and interest in fiscal matters. The quiz encompassed multiple-choice questions, covering a wide range of topics such as taxation policies, government expenditures, economic indicators, and recent budgetary announcements. After a rigorous and closely contested round, the top performers were identified based on their scores, advancing to the final stage of the competition.
Round 2: Presentation: The second round of the competition featured presentations by the top 10 participants from the quiz round. Each participant was assigned a specific topic related to the Union Budget, ranging from sectoral allocations to policy implications. Participants were required to conduct in-depth research, analyze relevant data, and formulate insightful observations and recommendations.

The first prize was won by Mr. Mithun D.V. and Mr. Sagar Hedge of MCom Final, and the second prize was won by Ms. Akshaya Pai and Ms.Priti Shenoy of MCom Final.
