Guest talk on “Mango Breed Conservation and Economic Empowerment”

The Department of Commerce and Management Canara College, Mangalore organized a guest talk on “Mango breed conservation and economic empowerment” on account of World Environment Day on June 14, 2024 as an initiative of IQAC .The resource Dr.Manohar Upadhya ,Veterinary Doctor,Mangaluru discussed the importance of preserving mango genetic diversity to maintain unique flavors, resistances, and cultural significance. Discussion was also done on how mango breed conservation can enhance economic opportunities for farmers. He also elaborated the importance of sustainable practices in mango cultivation, including organic methods, integrated pest management, and water conservation techniques. Furthermore, the resource person also addressed challenges such as climate change impacts, pest management, and market fluctuations.

The guest talk concluded with a lively Q&A session where participants engaged with the speakers, sharing insights, experiences, and ideas for future collaboration. Overall, the event successfully raised awareness about mango breed conservation and economic empowerment, fostering a sense of responsibility and commitment among attendees towards sustainable agriculture and community development. The session was well received by the students.
