As an endeavor to promote personal and professional excellence among the staff, The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the College organised a Faculty Development Programme on Holistic Harmony: Enhancing Student Well-being, Faculty Relations and Team Collaboration, on July 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the College Seminar Hall. Mrs. Mamatha Bhandary, Mental Health Professional, Canara Educational Institutions was the Facilitator for the Programme.
“Happiness and motivation are essential for a healthy mind and life. It’s important to release pent-up emotions and frustrations whenever necessary,” expressed Dr. Deepthi Nayak, Administrator.
In her presidential address, Principal Dr. Premalatha V. highlighted the primary purpose of conducting Faculty Development Programs (FDPs). She emphasized that fostering strong chemistry and rapport among faculty members is essential for creating a healthy working environment, which ultimately contributes to the institution’s growth.
During the program, the Resource Person conducted individual case studies with groups of lecturers, highlighting behavioral symptoms commonly observed in problematic students, such as being argumentative, lacking motivation, exhibiting solitary behavior, truancy, declining grades, and secretiveness. To address these issues, she recommended strategies like ‘Motivational Interviewing,’ which helps individuals explore and resolve their ambivalence towards behavior change. She also suggested referring students to counselors and considering medical intervention when necessary.
Furthermore, through interactive games, she explained the Johari Window model, a simple yet effective tool for enhancing self-awareness and interpersonal relationships. The event witnessed active participation from faculty members, who engaged in insightful discussions and activities designed to promote holistic well-being.

A total of 54 staff participants participated in this programme.
The session was interestingly interactive, engagingly refreshing and intellectually enriching one for all. The program proved to be both enlightening and highly beneficial, ultimately enhancing the overall educational experience to all the participants.The programme strived to promote the core value of eliciting quest for excellence among the staff members.
