The Orientation Programme for the fresh NSS volunteers was organized by the NSS Units of Canara College on September 10, 2024 at 3:30 P.M. in the College Seminar Hall. The main objective of the programme was to orient the new NSS volunteers about the scope and purpose of the National Service Scheme. Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., Head, Department of Business Administration, Canara College was the Resource Person.
Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., at the very onset, congratulated the volunteers for choosing NSS as their Extra-Curricular Association. She briefed the volunteers on the NSS motto, importance of the NSS symbol and badge, aims and objectives, role and duties of volunteers, as well as activities to be performed in the village adopted by the Units. She also highlighted that NSS is a good platform to develop one’s personality and explore the hidden talents in them. Further, she emphasized on the NSS principle, “Learning by doing and doing by learning.”
NSS Programme Officer (Unit 2) Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat administered the oath to the Volunteers. Mrs. Sushama C. NSS PO (Unit 1), NSS Assistant Programme Officers Mr. Shubham Kulal and Mrs. Laxmi Hegde were also present. Volunteers Rithika and team rendered the prayer, Ms. Vishmitha delivered the welcome speech, while Ms. Ashwini proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Sourav Salian was the Master of Ceremony for the programme.
A total of 119 volunteers were oriented through this programme.
