The Centre for PG Studies in Commerce organized an orientation program for the first-year M.Com. students on October 7, 2024. The chief guest was Dr. Divya Prabhu P., Assistant Professor at Manjunatha Pai Memorial Government First Grade College, Karkala. In her address, she emphasized that only 12% of students in India pursue postgraduate studies and encouraged the audience to make the most of their student life and distinguish themselves by enrolling in additional government-offered courses.
Sri CA M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent of the college, presided over the function. In his presidential address, he remarked that education has become a profit-driven industry, but Canara is renowned for providing quality education at an affordable cost. He highlighted the importance of hard work at the student level in achieving success, using the analogy of a stone that, after several precise strikes, becomes a revered idol in a temple, while an unworked stone is used as a step outside the temple. He stressed that hard work will pay off in the long run.
Dr. Premalatha V., Principal, briefly introduced Canara College to the first-year M.Com. students, followed by Mrs. Swathi Nayak, PG Coordinator (MCom), who led the students in the oath-taking ceremony. Present at the event were Sri. K. Shivananda Shenoy, Manager of the college; Dr. Deepti Nayak, Administrator; Mrs. Jayabharathi K. P., HOD (MCA); and Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath, IQAC Coordinator. Mrs. Dejamma A., HOD of Commerce, welcomed the gathering; Mrs. Sneha Pai, faculty member (M.Com.), delivered the vote of thanks; and Mrs. Megha, faculty member (M.Com.), hosted the program.
The orientation program was followed by a session titled “Redefine Success,” conducted by Dr. Divya Prabhu P. In her session,
