CELEBRATION OF INSTITUTION’S INNOVATION DAY

The Canara College, Mangaluru, celebrated its first Institution’s Innovation Day on October 15, 2024, with great enthusiasm, reaffirming its commitment to fostering creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation among students and faculty.
The event began with a warm welcome address by the convenor of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., Head, Department of Business Administration, who also introduced the significance of the day.
Mrs. Prathima V. Baliga, NIRF coordinator, highlighted the mission of the IIC to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the institution and provided an overview of the IIC of the college.
The Guest of Honour, Shri Mithun Bhat Kakunje, Director, Kakunje Group of Companies, a proud alumna, delivered an inspiring keynote address focusing on the benefits of entrepreneurship. He highlighted the numerous benefits of being an entrepreneur, including the opportunity to solve real-world problems, achieve financial independence, create jobs, and contribute to economic growth. Mr. Bhat also emphasized that entrepreneurship encourages self-reliance, adaptability, and the ability to turn challenges into opportunities, making it a rewarding and impactful career choice.
Dr. Premalatha V., the Principal, delivered the presidential remarks. In her address, she emphasized the pivotal role of innovation and entrepreneurship in driving societal progress and individual growth. She commended the Institution Innovation Council for organizing the event and encouraged students and faculty to actively engage in innovative practices and entrepreneurial ventures.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mrs. Jayabharathi K.P., Head of the Department of MCA, and Mr. Akshay, member of IIC. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Babitha, Head, Department of Computer Science & Applications. The programme, skillfully compered by Ms. Aisiri Aithal, a 1st-year BBA student. A total of 81 BCA and BBA students benefitted from this programme.
