IQAC, in collaboration with KMC Hospital, Dr. B R Ambedkar Circle, Mangaluru, conducted an impactful session titled “Empowering Hope: Cancer Awareness Initiative for Women” at T.V. Raman Pai Convention Centre. The event, attended by 191 participants, aimed at fostering critical awareness of breast and cervical cancer.
Dr. Vidyashree Kamath C., a renowned Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, delivered a compelling presentation on cervical cancer. She elaborated on the risk factors and preventive measures and highlighted the importance of the HPV vaccine. Dr. Kamath stressed the necessity of routine health screenings, emphasizing that early detection is key to successful treatment.
Dr. Basila Ameer Ali, Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon, shed light on the rising incidence of breast cancer in India, noting that 1 in 28 women are affected, especially in urban areas. She provided valuable insights on self-examination techniques, empowering women to take proactive steps in detecting early signs of breast cancer.
Ms. Ashwini Kamath delivered the presidential address, underscoring the importance of women prioritizing their own health and announcing future awareness programs aimed at young girls in schools. Dr. Premalata V., Principal, Canara College, welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Ujwala Mallya, PRO, CHS Assn., and Dr. Deepti Nayak, Administrator, Canara College, graced the occasion. Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath, IQAC Coordinator, delivered a vote of thanks while Mrs. Pratima V. Baliga, IQAC Coordinator, skillfully coordinated the proceedings.
