The Centre for PG Studies in Commerce conducted a session on “Future of Accounting: Embracing Evolution” on October 21, 2024, at 3.15 p.m. The resource person of the session was Ms. Deeksha Rao, Assistant Professor at AIJM, who delivered an insightful session and highlighted the rapid pace at which technology is transforming the accounting profession. She emphasized that while advancements such as automation and AI are reshaping the field, a strong foundation in basic accounting principles remains essential. The resource person also provided an overview of popular accounting software tools currently in use, such as Tally, QuickBooks, and SAP, and discussed potential future upgrades in accounting technologies. Her session offered a valuable perspective on how professionals must stay adaptable while maintaining core accounting knowledge to navigate these changes successfully. The session also highlighted the critical role of soft skills, such as communication, adaptability, and problem-solving, alongside technical skills.
The session motivated the students in making full-fledged use of accounting tools. 70 students participated in the session.
