Knotting Session

On 26th October 2024, the Rovers and Rangers Unit of our college organized an insightful knotting session for its member in the college seminar hall. The session aimed to enhance students’ practical skills and knowledge of various types of knots essential for Rovers and Rangers activities.

The resource person for the session was Mr. Prathim Kumar K.S., Lieutenant, District Secretary of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dakshina Kannada district. With extensive experience and expertise in scouting, Mr. Prathim guided the students through a hands-on demonstration of different knotting techniques, explaining their practical applications in outdoor and survival scenarios.

During the session, Mr. Prathim demonstrated various knots, including basic and complex ones, providing detailed instructions on how to tie each knot effectively. The students actively participated, practicing each knot under his supervision to ensure they understand the techniques correctly. This practical exposure not only improved their knotting skills but also instilled in them the values of teamwork, patience, and precision.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, where Mr. Prathim addressed students’ queries related to knotting and its significance in Rovers and Rangers. The Rovers and Rangers members expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the valuable learning opportunity and appreciated the hands-on approach of the session.

This knotting session was an enriching experience for all the participants, equipping them with practical skills that are fundamental to Rovers and Rangers activities and outdoor pursuits. The Rovers and Rangers Unit looks forward to organizing more such sessions in the future to further develop the practical skills of its members. 22 students of Rovers and Rangers actively took part in the session.

Mrs. Savitha D.K., Ranger Leader, warmly welcomed the attendees and introduced the guest. Mr. Karthik N., the leader of Rovers Scout delivered the vote of thanks. Ms. Ashwini of II BCom A served as the Master of Ceremony, ensuring the event ran smoothly. This programme fostered global competency among the Rovers and Rangers.
