Can Cabinet “CAN- UTSAV”

The Can-cabinet Student Welfare Council of our college organized ‘Can-Utsav’ on November 4, 2024 at 3:30 P.M. in the college quadrangle to celebrate Deepavali, the festival of lights and joy.

Dr. Premalatha V., Principal of Canara College, spoke on this occasion, highlighting Deepavali as a festival symbolizing the journey from darkness to light and from ignorance to wisdom. She emphasized that the festival encourages us to share the light of joy and happiness, inspiring everyone to work together toward collective progress and prosperity. In his presidential address, CA M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent of Canara College, shared his insights on the significance of Deepavali. He highlighted the meaning and traditions associated with each day of the festival, offering wishes of health, prosperity, and fulfilment to all. “May this Krodhinama Samvatsara empower each one of us to realise our dreams.” he concluded.

On the auspicious occasion of Deepavali, the college proudly unveiled its annual magazine for the academic year 2023-24, titled “Mangala”, a vibrant showcase of creativity and talent. The release was conducted by the President of the program, along with Sri K. Shivanand Shenoy, Manager, Canara College marking a memorable moment in celebration of our student’s achievements and artistic expression.

Other distinguished dignitaries gracing the occasion included Prof. Anila, Principal of Canara Evening College; Dr. Deepti Nayak, Administrator of Canara College; and Sri Gururaj Shet, President of the Canara Alumni Association. Faculty members on the dais where Mrs. Shailaja Pudukoli, Lecturer in the Kannada Department and Editor of Mangala Magazine, along with Student Welfare Mentors Mrs. Babitha S., Mrs. Smitha M. and Mr. Avinash. Mr. Aryaman Prabhu, President, Student Welfare Council, M. Trivikram Shenoy, Secretary, Student Welfare Council and Executive committee members were also present.

The winners of the ‘Goodu Deepa Competition’ organized by the Tulu Sangha as part of the Deepavali celebrations were awarded during this program. On this auspicious occasion, the excess funds collected during the Teacher’s Day celebration were handed over to the CHS Association by the Can-Cabinet Student Welfare Council as a contribution towards a noble cause.

Ms. Raksha, the Joint Secretary of the Student Welfare Council, extended a warm welcome to the gathering, while Ms. Sinchana Shetty, the Vice President, delivered the vote of thanks. The program was skillfully compered by Mr. Rishabh Kamath. Best Traditional Attire Competition was held and Mr. U. Naman Pai, III B.Com C won the title Mr. Can Utsav and Ms. Mamatha, III B.Com A won the title Ms. Can-Utsav. The celebration was elevated with traditional cultural performances by the students, doubling the joy of the event. A total of 900 students participated and witnessed the festivities. The corridors were decorated with vibrant rangolis, beautifully created by representative members from each class.
