Srujana is an Inter-collegiate University level literary and cultural competition for NSS students organized by our college since 2009. Srujana 2018 was organized on January 16,2018. The programme was inaugurated by Shri KodmanKanthappa Shetty, President VyavasayaSahakari Sangha Farangipete. In his inaugural address he said students must inculcate the values which they learnt being a NSS volunteer. It will give a new learning to the students. Shri Madhav Suvarna, Development Officer, National Insurance was the chief guest. In his speech he said through NSS one can develop service attitude, living with peace and harmony. Shri C.A Vaman Kamath, Alternate Treasurer Canara High School Association was the president of the function.
The competitions were held in & events which includes street play, photography, Folk dance etc. 13 teams from different colleges under Mangalore University participated in the event. Each team consists of maximum 16 NSS volunteers. The Overall winning trophy was won by Govindadasa College Surathkal and MGM college Udupi were the runners up.
“Srujana” helps the students to develop organizing skills, communication skills and it is a good learning experience. Students learn to shoulder the responsibility, accountability and a sense of loyalty. The beauty of the event is the freedom students enjoyed in whole layout of the programme. The stage decoration, event topics, dress code etc were decided by the students. Students were accountable for the responsibilities assigned to them. The whole expenditure of the event is financed by Canara High school association. Totally 225 students took apart in this one day programme.Students learnt organising skills, time management, sharing responsibility and accountability.
Srujana a most awaited NSS programme gives students’ a testimony to their skills and enhances their competency level. It’s an opportunity to experience the learning process and there by understand the core values of Honesty, Punctuality, and Commitment.Respecting the views of others despite numerous differences. It’s a programme to evaluate our strengths and weaknesses and thus moving towards excellence. Ultimately, Srujana contributes to the improvisation of individual development and thus contributes to the national development.
