In consonance with the directions of Central Vigilance Commission, Vigilance Awareness Week 2021 with its central theme “Independent India @ 75 : Self Reliance with Integrity” was observed by the College from October 26 to November 01, 2021. A formal awareness programme of the same in association with Union Bank of India, Bunder Branch, Mangaluru, was held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 2:30 PM in the College Seminar Hall.
Mr. Praveen Chandra Kamath C., Branch Manager, Bunder Branch, Union Bank of India, Mangaluru was the Alumni Chief Guest. He in his address, citing the reflections of the distinct qualities of Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel said “India is self-sufficient with all resources, yet its development is hindered due to the existence of corrupt practices. Moreover, corruption is the cancer of progress, deadly of all pandemics and is one of the greatest challenges faced by the contemporary society. It undermines good governance, distorts public policy, hampers the development and hurts those who can afford it least. Hence, a culture of integrity, noble intensions, good governance, and high standards must be infused in our lifestyle to combat corruption in all spheres of life”. He also gave away the prizes to the winners of Essay Writing Competition.
Mrs. Dejamma A., Head, Dept. of Commerce and IQAC Coordinator administered the Pledge of Integrity for Citizens.
Dr. Premalatha V., Principal, administered the Pledge of Integrity for Organizations and delivered the presidential address. In her address she remarked that “Integrity is a cornerstone of a system of sound public governance and is a vital to economic prosperity and well-being of any organization. During the present unprecedented crisis across the globe, every organization owes even greater responsibility than any other time to improve the quality of service delivery. Let us all lead by example, put in place integrity framework, maintain high standards of community living, and contribute to the growth of the institution while remaining eternally vigilant and accountable for our work and duties”.
In connection with observance, a wide-range of awareness activities was undertaken. Dissemination of mass awareness messages to our stakeholders through SMS / e-mail, use of institutional website for spreading wider awareness, Essay Writing Competition was organized for the students on the topic “My Vision for Vigilant, Corruption Free and Self Reliant Independent India @ 75”. 19 students took part in this competition. Besides this, students, staff and parents were encouraged to take the Integrity e-Pledge. An Integrity e-Pledge for Organizations also has been taken by the College.

Mrs. Vani U.S., Head, Dept. of Kannada and Student Welfare Mentor welcomed the guest and gathering. Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan, Faculty, Dept. of Business Administration and IQAC Coordinator, gave more insights on the significance of the day and also read out the messages of the Hon’ble President of India and The Commissioner of Central Vigilance Commission. Dr. Prashanth, Head, Dept. of Economics and Student Welfare Mentor announced the prize winners of Essay Writing Competition. Ms. Megha Kamat, Faculty, P.G. Centre for Commerce and Student Welfare Mentor proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Anusha Shet, II B.Com. Student rendered the prayer song. Mrs. Smitha M., Faculty, Dept. of Commerce compered the programme. The occasion concluded with respectfully signing the National Anthem.
A total of 40 staff members and 10 students’ participated in this programme.
The observance of Vigilance Awareness sensitized the staff members and called upon for their collective participation to make India a corruption free. The staff members participated in the programme and also took the Integrity Pledge.
The session strived to achieve the core values of contribution to national development and inculcating value system amongst all.
