Rashtriya Ekta Diwas – National Unity Day 2021 was celebrated by the College on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 2:30 PM in the College Seminar Hall.
Col. Nitteguthu Sharath Bhandary, President, All Karnataka Rubber Planters’ Association, and Mangalore University College Alumni Association was the Chief Guest. In his address he said – “Ethics and Moral Values, Culture and Traditional Values, and Discipline and Patriotism are the core principles on which the concept of ‘Unity’ is based upon. Citing several reflections of the distinct qualities of Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the National Unity Day gives us an apt opportunity to remember and salute his great works and noble mission. As a nation, we should seek inspiration on patriotism, integrity and unity from Sri Sardar Patel and thereby pledge to stand for the unity and integrity of our nation. He impressed upon “Two Nations Theory” and its relevance in making one India and said with unity, we can take the country to greater heights. He further called upon the teachers to inculcate among the students the love for nation, acquaint the responsibilities of citizens of India and above all a sense of discipline in life”.
Principal Dr. Premalatha V. administered the Pledge for Unity and presided over the programme. In her presidential address she remarked that “National unity is significant for the construction of a complete nation – ‘One India’, ‘Excellent India’ and a ‘Foremost India’. Amidst the vibrancy and diversity, living together with all in harmony, maintaining of good relationship among the people of the nation is a binding force that brings peace and development. As envisioned by Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, let us all take the path of Dharma, strive to remain united, reaffirm to march forward with humility, demand our rights and be mindful of our duties and responsibilities towards this great nation”.
Dr. Prashanth, Head, Dept. of Economics and Student Welfare Mentor welcomed the guest and gathering. Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan, Faculty, Dept. of Business Administration and IQAC Coordinator, gave more insights on the significance of the day. Mrs. Vani U. S., Head, Dept. of Kannada and Student Welfare Mentor proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Dejamma A., Head, Dept. of Commerce and IQAC Coordinator too was present on the occasion. Mrs. Savitha G. Acharya, Faculty, Dept. of Economics, rendered the prayer song. Mrs. Ashalatha, Faculty, Dept. of Commerce compered the programme. The occasion concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
A total of 55 staff members participated in this programme.
The celebration endeavored to reaffirm our inner strength towards unity and created awareness about the need to remain united. The staff members took the Pledge for Unity.
The programme strived to achieve the core values of contributing to national development and inculcating a sense of value system amongst all.
