Founder’s Day 2021 with its theme for the occasion “Tribute to the Legend : Living the Dreams of Our Founding Father” was celebrated by the College on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the College Quadrangle. The celebration began with offering floral tributes to the Institutional Presiding Deity and the Founder. This was then followed by the formal gathering.
Dr. Uday Kumar M. A., Former Principal, University College, Hampankatta, Mangaluru was the Chief Guest for the programme. Upon unfurling the Institutional Flag, while sharing his thoughts on the theme of the occasion, he said – “I truly feel blessed and deeply moved with the privilege to offer my humble tributes on this very special day to this great noble Soul. While reminiscing the illustrious legacy of the Founder, he called upon to remember the Founder’s sacrifice, devotion to profession and his deep concern for the social well-being. He further emphasized that education and education alone can bring the change and create a heaven on the earth; and this can happen only in the classroom while coupled with proper opportunity for the students’ to grow. Have a realistic dream and devotedly work towards its realization; you become what you think. Hence, one must always wish for accomplishing great things and have high aspirations. The Founder too had such a dream and a concern for the betterment of the future generation. He went beyond his family and community to serve the society at large; thereby opening a new world for all of us. Start where you are, use what you have and make a difference, leaving a lasting impact on everyone.”
Special invitee Mrs. Anila, Principal, Canara Evening College, Mangaluru and Alumna of the College graced the occasion. In her message she called upon the students’ and said – “Add zeal to your life, have patience in your actions, and you can work wonders. We must ever remember our Founder with utmost devotion for his remarkable contributions which he made to the society, inspite of all the difficulties and lack of resources; yet the resilience he showed at the times of adversities, the path that he laid and the prosperity envisaged for the generations to come is what it truly makes our Founder a tall figure and a beacon of light. May his remarkable history and illustrious legacy inspire us to inspire others, do more for the good of others and live a life to serve more for the community at large. May our lives so reflect the true spirit of our Founder that all lives meeting ours may be touched by his greatness. His life lived for the cause and upliftment of others shall ever be an inspiration for all.”
Principal Dr. Premalatha V. in her presidential address said – “November 19 indeed holds a special significance to each one of us as CANARITES. It is a time to honor our glorious history, celebrate the present and contemplate the promising future of our existence as CANARA Group of Institutions. Each passing year and on this special day in particular, allows us to consider what our aspirations have been over the years; reflect on years of growth, grit and greatness; celebrate all that we have achieved together; and aspire yet again – as success is never final. Together with all, let us strive to achieve great things. May we see many more years of continued existence and success in the service of others. Let us renew our commitment to the common purpose while cherishing and emulating all the lofty ideals and visions set by our revered Founder.”
Mrs. Dejamma A., Head, Dept. of Commerce and Management and IQAC Coordinator welcomed the gathering and also introduced the Chief Guest. Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan, Faculty, Dept. of Commerce and Management and IQAC Coordinator, gave more insights on the significance of the day and the Saga of the Founder. Mrs. Sushma R. Shetty, Faculty, Dept. of Commerce and Management and Student Welfare Mentor proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Madhushree, Head, Dept. of Botany and Student Welfare Mentor was also present on the occasion. Student Ms. Anusha Shet and Group rendered the prayer song. Student Ms. Sudheeksa and Group presented a Bhavakuncha as a tribute to the Founder. The pencil sketch of the Founder was then presented to the Chief Guest. Mrs. Dhanashri D. Kulkarni, Faculty, Dept. of Commerce and Management compered the programme.
Both teaching and non-teaching staff members and students were present during the occasion. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
Founder’s Day celebrations enabled to reminiscence and strive to embrace the noble qualities reflected by our legendary Founder and strengthen our resolve to continue developing our institution for our future generations.
The programme strived to achieve the core value of inculcating value system amongst the Canaraites.
