As an endeavor to promote professional excellence, a Motivational Seminar on the theme “In Pursuit of Quality Culture – Towards and Beyond Excellence” was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) for the staff members of the Institute on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the College Seminar Hall. Sri CA M. Vaman Kamath, Treasurer, Canara High School Association was the Key Resource Speaker for the session.
Sri CA M. Vaman Kamath while sharing his motivational thoughts and perspectives on the theme said – “No one is born with motivation in life. A person needs to gain it, via any process. Motivation is one of the most important elements required to achieve greatness in life. Success and great things always begin from you. Motivation always keeps you align towards your goals and helps you to work with great zeal. Goals are the stepping stone which lead towards your dreams and motivation is one of the biggest factors to achieve them. Further, all our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. What it takes to be successful, is staying motivated. Motivation is therefore vital element in human life because it brings happiness, the passion to work and action to life”.
While reminiscing the earlier days, he further added – “There has been a transformative change in the way the teaching-learning that used happen earlier and what presently it is, and so is the case with the student-teacher relationship as well”. Furthermore, he elucidated on some key take away for the teachers :
- Understanding students’ mindset and their psychology.
- Making yourself available when your students expect.
- Create a positive impact in everything that you do.
- Appreciate your students with kind / good words.
- Bless the students in their journey of life.
- Standout and be exemplary in all that you do.
- Develop a cohesive attitude and behavior.
- Cultivate identical set of mind and thinking.
- Always appreciate and enjoy in the success of your colleagues.
- Be happy, satisfied and contended in doing what you are doing.
- Be a good listener, just as how you expect your students to be.
- Keep everything as per the expectations.
- Believe in your students.
- Do not ever pass casual comments.
- Mutual respect is solicited.
- Improve on your teaching techniques.
- Given the intelligence, it is the little extra efforts and exertion one puts makes all the difference.
On a concluding note, he called upon the teachers and said – “Quality lies in the culture. The starting point for all achievement is desire. Every action is an opportunity to improve. If one doesn’t values excellence, he / she will never achieve excellence. Further, the race for excellence has no finish line. Therefore, quality must be become our niche that sets us apart from others. Hence, one must timely self-introspect to work in this direction. Always strive to get a good name for yourself and in turn for the Institution that you are serving in. Stand out as a Teacher – A Teacher that the society looks at and expects for”.
The Principal Dr. Premalatha V., in her address said – “Keeping a belief in yourself is one of the important elements of one’s life. Your goals must be your priority and you should never be compromising over them. Keep going slowly and steadily. You must never stop. Do not rush, do not leave the hope. Shoot for the moon, no worries if you fail, you may hit the star. Let us try to put in our best and contribute with positive vibes. Spread encouragement and appreciation among each other and always stay kind.
The IQAC Coordinators Mrs. Dejamma A., delivered the welcome address and made the opening remarks, and Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan proposed the vote of thanks.
A total of 52 participants including the teaching and non-teaching staff members participated in this programme.
The seminar renewed the vigor and zeal of the staff and thus called upon them to strive for continuous improvement; thus endeavor in pursuit of quality culture – towards and beyond excellence. The programme strived to promote the core value of instilling a value system and eliciting quest for excellence among the staff members.
